Animal Assisted Therapy
After School Program

Shadow Ranch runs our Animal Assisted Therapy After School Program from 2:30 - 5:30 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday when school is in session. This unique outdoor experience was developed by AKA Ranch to meet the special needs of at-risk children who may need an alternative way to learn trust, compassion, empathy and responsibility.

Children are referred by their individual therapist to this goal directed intervention as part of their overall treatment plan. Shadow Ranch is unique in its ability to incorporate animals as teachers both with the individual student as well as part of a bio-social program depending upon the needs of each child. This challenging program has proven especially effective with issues such as Reactive Attachment Disorder. The after school program is also available to community children as animal assisted activities.
